The American Optometric Society is seeking nominations for one open board position. Here is your chance to become more involved in your organization!
Here are the details: You must be a member of the AOS in good standing, which means your dues are paid. The term of service on the board is three years. The Board meets approximately once a month for about two hours via SKYPE conference call, and a couple times each year in person. Reasonable transportation and accommodation expenses to the in-person meetings are reimbursed. The Board performs most of its business through daily communications, most often via email.
Nominations: You may nominate yourself or ask a member colleague if he/she might be interested. Please send us the following: a small (passport size) photo, a current CV, and a short statement about yourself and why you wish to serve the AOS. If you have any specific projects or goals in mind, this would be a good time to share them. You may submit your nomination documents via email (preferred) or mail to 5737 Kanan Road,#540, Agoura Hills, CA 91301. The AOS will make your statement available to all voting members before they vote. The individual that receives the most votes will be elected. In case of a tie the AOS will hold a run-off election.
All nominations must be received by midnight July 31, 2011. Elections will be held shortly after nominations close through an e-mail voting system of the AOS membership. Results will be announced on August 21, 2011.
Feel free to contact the Board or the AOS Administrator if you have any questions or concerns regarding the duties and responsibilities of the directors of the corporation.
Thank you for your support of your professional organization.
Sincerely,
Your AOS Board of Directors
