Regular members have full voting rights in the AOS, directly elect the AOS Board of Directors, can participate in all AOS polls and surveys, receive all AOS Newsletters and Bulletins, can use the AOS logo, and help fund the work of the AOS.

1 year for USD 120.00.
1st year graduate membership is 1/2 the full fee of the Regular (Voting) Membership.  These members are not allowed a vote, however.
1 year for USD 60.00.
Student membership is free of charge to active students at any college of optometry.  Student members receive the same rights and benefits as Voting members (except no Vote), including regular newsletters and other important communications.
1 year for Free.
This fund covers the AOS ‘ day to day operating expenses including everything from administration, marketing, website maintenance and all related day to day expenses.

Do you think that Optometry is not well-promoted to the general public?  Tired of people not knowing what Optometrists do?  The Public Awareness Campaign will promote Optometry to the general public.

In its lawsuit the AOS alleges that various advertisements and representations by the ABO are false and misleading, or have a tendency to mislead, and are likely to influence the purchasing decisions of both the public and optometrists. Read more in new window

Why join the AOS?

Optometrists Currently Have No Voice in the Affairs of the  American Optometric Association

The American Optometric Association was formed to represent optometrists, but sadly given the apparent overwhelming opposition to board certification and the method with which the AOA ramrodded board certification through the recent House of Delegates, optometrists have lost their representative voice within the AOA. The American Optometric Society exists to hold the AOA accountable to its rank and file.
